Dr. David Hutchinson is the Innovation and Impact Development Manager for the Faculty of Technology at the University of Portsmouth. He is responsible for developing services that support businesses through collaboration, linking them with the right academic skills and support.
David first joined the University in 2010 to help set up and subsequently manage the University of Portsmouth Environment Network (UPEN), which represents the skills and expertise of over 200 academics that relate to Sustainability and Environment.
David is an inaugural board member for Future South. A public-private partnership that seeks to create growth and benefit from a low carbon economy in the Solent region. Recent projects have seen inward investment of £30 Million and the creation of over 250 high value jobs.
He is also board sponsor for Greentech South – The Technology and Innovation cluster. David also supports the Island Innovation Federation, which he joined as a governor in 2012, and more recently, as a trustee.
He lives in Ryde with his wife and two young children, who attend Greenmount primary school. David thoroughly loves life on the island and is passionate about the Environment, skills development and education. He plays oboe in the Isle of Wight Symphony Orchestra.
