SERT Recruitment and Training

Future Isle of Wight is excited to partner with SERT, who offer workforce solutions in technology and engineering.

As we take positive steps towards sustainable and carbon-neutral ways of living and working, the Isle of Wight’s critical infrastructures will need to be upgraded and maintained.

To do that, we’ll need local engineers and skilled tradespeople with the correct training and qualifications.

SERT, a workforce solutions specialist with three local training centres between Portsmouth and Southampton, is rising to meet the challenge.

SERT’s range of services is diverse, with contract and permanent recruitment solutions, project delivery packages and high-quality training in multiple energy-efficient industries and vocations.

Core qualifications and training courses offered by SERT:

  • Installation and servicing of electrics, plumbing, and low carbon heating.
  • Dual fuel NSAP assessments for smart meter engineers.
  • Initial qualifications and upskilling for EV charger point installation.
  • Air Source Heat Pump installation and servicing.
  • Gas and electric diploma programmes supporting new entrants into the utilities sector.
  • A range of apprenticeships focused on renewable heating, ready for the academic year 2022/23.

SERT’s training gives our community vital access to the foundational skills needed for the eventual upskilling of the workforce into renewable installations and retrofits.

With its people-orientated ethos, SERT shares the values of Future Isle of Wight, aiming to tackle social issues like fuel poverty, an ageing workforce, shortage of skilled tradespeople and a lack of gender diversity in the engineering sector.

By training a more effective workforce and supporting career opportunities, SERT can help Islanders live happier, healthy lives as we make the transition to a cleaner, greener Isle of Wight.
