Our Purpose
Helping Isle of Wight communities towards net zero
We’re a community interest company helping local businesses, community groups, and residents reduce both their costs and carbon footprints.
Future Isle of Wight’s work covers residential and commercial built environment projects, as well as transport electrification. We use a mixture of outreach, education and direct action to bring about change.
We use regenerative, sustainable, and environmentally aware strategies and technologies.
We help signpost Islanders towards organisations who can actively reduce their utility costs and CO2 emissions.
We offer education and support to help individuals and businesses achieve net zero by 2040.
Here are just a few of our recent and ongoing projects and how they impacted Island communities
Outreach and events
As well as hosting our annual retrofit and technology expo, we regularly visit Island venues to give guidance on energy savings and accessing grant funding.
DriVe2X
We’re proud to partner with the DriVe2X project, which is accelerating vehicle electrification through the research and development of bi-directional smart charging technologies.
Pioneers Isle of Wight Pathfinder
Funded and overseen by Innovate UK, this project’s aim was to uncover non-technical barriers standing in the way of achieving a fully carbon-neutral Isle of Wight by 2040. Future Isle of Wight provided valuable research data to aid the Isle of Wight Council’s net-zero goals.
Retrofit hub
Future Isle of Wight offers free guidance on home energy-saving measures and works alongside certified contractors to upgrade Island homes for free. By strengthening the local energy sector and supply chains, we’re empowering communities and positively impacting health and wellbeing.
Isle of Wight resident feedback
To find out more about the grant funding process and the experience of local residents, take a look at some of our case studies.
I was amazed when the surveyor showed me how little loft insulation I had compared to a modern build.
– Elaine, Newport
I have nothing but good things to say about my experience. There’s no doubt it will keep the house warmer and reduce our electric bills.
– Jon, Chale
The team were very friendly and gave me lots of advice for my home and helped me get a heating and solar grant.
– Wendy, Shorwell
