Ridge Clean Energy’s Plans for Sunny Oaks Renewable Energy Park

Solarpanels on field

Ridge Clean Energy (RCE) is an Oxfordshire based clean energy company that are currently developing Sunny Oaks Renewable Energy Park (REP) near Wootton Common.

The team at RCE have developed, constructed and operated renewable energy projects in the UK since 2003, seeking to engage with local communities and councils from an early stage, ensuring meaningful community engagement and lasting local benefits.

RCE’s mission is to generate clean energy while supporting community well-being and environmental resilience. Each of their projects is progressed to deliver both renewable energy and community value. Dedicated Community Partnership Coordinators work directly with organisations, groups and residents to identify and support initiatives aligned with local needs and the transition to Net Zero.

Sunny Oaks REP will generate enough electricity to power approximately 5,677 local homes. The site includes plans for biodiversity enhancement through wildflower meadows and species-rich grasslands between solar panels. A community benefit fund will be available throughout its 40-year operational lifetime, and the land will be restored to its original agricultural use after decommissioning, with improved soil carbon content.

RCE’s sister company, Ridge Carbon Capture (RCC), supports ecosystem restoration through large-scale peatland restoration projects. RCC currently manages approximately 100,000 acres across England and Scotland, enabling landowners and tenants to enhance biodiversity and generate carbon credits.

Together, RCE and RCC reflect a commitment to clean energy, ecological restoration, and deep-rooted community collaboration.
