Welcome to Future Isle of Wight
We’re a not-for-profit community interest company. Our volunteer retrofit experts educate and advise residents and local businesses on how to reduce their utility bills and carbon footprints.
You Could Be Eligible for a Free Heating, Insulation or Solar Upgrade
Future Isle of Wight can help you apply for a grant to reduce the cost of home heating, insulation, and renewable energy upgrades by up to 100%.
We’ll also oversee the work, liaising with Trustmark-approved, PAS-certified installers to make your home warmer, more efficient, and less costly to run.

Our Projects & Services
Future Isle of Wight aims to improve the environment of our beautiful island and the everyday lives of the people who live and work here. To do that, we help residents heat, insulate, and power their homes and businesses more efficiently, saving money and reducing CO2.
Energy & Insulation Advice
We’re not just an online organisation! Our volunteer retrofit experts and surveyors also offer free, impartial advice to anyone visiting our local Newport office or phoning our dedicated call centre.
Home Surveys & EPCs
Our chartered surveyor helps homeowners and businesses identify potential energy efficiency and carbon footprint improvements. We also carry out Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) assessments.
Free Home Upgrade Grants
We assist residents in applying for home upgrade grants to reduce the cost of insulation, heating and solar PV upgrades by up to 100%. We also oversee the work, liaising with PAS-certified installers.
Outreach & Events
As well as hosting our popular Smart Island Live retrofit expo, we regularly visit Island venues and events to give guidance on energy savings and how to access grant funding.
Research & Innovation
Partnering with organisations such as Innovate UK, Future Isle of Wight is helping to uncover potential barriers and challenges to achieving net-carbon zero as an Island by 2040.
Bi-Directional EV Charging
We’re a partner of the DriVe2X project, which aims to accelerate vehicle electrification through the research and development of bi-directional smart charging technologies.
